I am learning right along with everyone else as gas prices rise and our options to save money on everything from groceries, diapers, toiletries, make-up,cleaning supplies, paper products, and eating out. Make sure when you read this blog remember that the current entry is always first. Scroll down to the dates of the first entries on the right hand side. Happy Couponing (:mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.comBlogger54125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-3553176597107377182012-06-23T08:17:00.000-07:002012-08-13T22:58:46.172-07:00Sorry I've been away so long!

I am really sorry that I have been away for so long, but I couldn't find anything new to report about my couponing. I was at a stand still and didn't know how to break away from it. Then I realized that I use the best tool to fix my problem everyday...my computer..go figure! I have been searching YouTube videos, because frankly I could never find anything useful on "Extreme Couponing." They never tell you where all those coupons come from. I have been spending money on Ebay buying inserts that I figured out that I can make good money SELLING inserts. It's crazy how much the inserts have gone up I started couponing, so I no longer buy them on Ebay. I usually just print them off the internet, but like posted before I said NEVER download a toolbar just to get the coupons. This is exactly why I am at a stand still with my couponing. I just discovered ways to get free coupons on YouTube. As a matter of fact, I have found YouTube to be a wealth of information for everything you need to know about anything. People are making videos on just about anything.

I am buy my summer wardrobe on here since the gas prices are projected to rise to $5 a gallon and to get anywhere from Hampshire county is going to cost an arm and a leg to go clothes and shoe shopping!

Speaking of the rising gas prices, I am working very hard researching the benefit of shopping for groceries and such online instead of driving to get the deals. Wal-Mart, Target, Big K and other stores are starting to send out internet coupon codes and free shipping if you shop online. I never realized that there were so many sites that offered this service until this past weekend. Please keep reading my blog to find out more.
I have been on a serious freebie kick since we decided to go to the Outer Banks this summer. I am trying to get as many as I can so I don't have to buy the trial size items to take. I plan on taking some photos of my freebie loot before I leave on vacation, so everyone can see how easy it is to accumulate these little treasures. It has been very hard to keep up with all the great freebies this week and I am truly grateful to Deals 4 Dummies for posting them today. Have a wonderful weekend!!
I cannot keep up with them on Facebook..I found another great site and I will post them as long as they keep putting them up. I am also looking into shopping more at my favorite stores online as many of them are offering free shipping. This may become more important than couponing in some cases since gas prices are projected to rise to $5.00 a gallon.

Getting back to the freebie site that I am enjoying tonight. They just put up a free advance screening of The Lorax if you have an American Express card. Now THAT is a tremendous freebie!!
This binder organizer is one of my greatest finds yet! Entitled "Pick Out Another Check-Out Lane, Honey!", it has all your grocery ailes listed as well as some blank pages at the end for miscellaneous items. The Krazy Coupon Lady really has it together on her site and keeps everything up to date. Her Facebook page is very helpful if you join or "like" it. As most of us know couponing, saving money and getting those freebies will always be a learning process as store policies and offers change. As soon as I think I know everything there is about this saving money deal or I think it will get boring, someone always finds a way to keep it interesting and fun. :)

Here's the link for the binder pages- http://0.thekrazycouponlady.com/wp-content/uploads/home/kclcouponbinder.pdf
This type of savings happens when you use your store card bonus privileges along with internet coupons and/or insert coupons. There are so many saving sites that keep up with them that it's insane. One of my favorite sites for match ups is http://www.frugallivingandhavingfun.com/ This site is very up to date with many offers and freebies. It also keeps up by posting the CVS Extra Care match up deals weekly.

CVS is one of the best places that have great match ups, so if you don't have a CVS Extra Care card, then apply for one right away to start saving BIG!! http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/user/home/home.jsp?OVMTC=e&OVKEY=cvs%2520extra%2520care%2520card×tamp=%7Bmsimpts%7D&creative=719572&adcid=1979826&ic_pl_id=32599428&ic_lp_id=10855024&cdid=4870
(Please remember to click on "older posts" to find out how to save money) I have over 70 posts about how to save money with coupons. This blogs always starts with the most recent entry first and goes backwards. You can go all the way back to April 2011 and see the very beginning of Mountain Girl Coupons and how this blog got started. The owners of these sites do everything possible to keep their information updated and usually take you directly to the sign up for Freebie page. Also, search through Facebook and join Freebie sites and you can get updates hourly! Have fun!!! :)
The very first thing you need to know is NEVER click on some site that "claims" you will receive free items. If the site takes you through a dozen splash pages and asks you to choose a magazine subscription, free credit reports,or taking surveys online, it is a way for those sites to have get permission to spam and call you relentlessly. Through the next week I will be featuring sites where I have scored some great freebies, my favorite being a four pack of sugar free Red Bull and full size at that!

Check out this site http://www.iheartfreebies.com/
This is one of the first sites that I discovered and have gotten everything from free underware to an Atkins diet program candy bars (they where absolutely delish!) This site keeps all the freebies up to date, so hurry up and claim that free stuff, including free perfume and fast food treats! Please remember to NOT click on the ads in the side bars and top bars of the site...stay within the freebies of the actual site :)mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-37394762804150607612012-01-18T05:23:00.000-08:002012-01-18T09:19:20.123-08:00nomorerack.comThere is an awesome website that introduces fantastic deals at noon eastern/standard time....One day, eight deals!! The best deal of the is a diamond journey necklace worth $189 on sale for $20...that's an 89% savings!!!

This site has been endorsed by Martha Stewart, People magazine, USA Today, The View, The Miami Herald,Country Living, and House Beautiful. They have everything from feather weaves for your hair, watches, computers, ipods, and the list goes on, BUT you have to be very quick to get the best deals. I have not been able to score any uber electronics, but I did get a real Louis Vuitton scarf for $30. http://www.nomorerack.com/?cr=2291743 Good luck and let the savings begin!!!!mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-9154063135964007092012-01-18T00:01:00.000-08:002012-01-18T00:01:43.550-08:00More and More Couponing Sites Popping UP!It's un believable how many couponing sites that are popping up on the internet. This is a great thing as the admins of these sites do all the leg work for you. The most recent one I've found is http://grocerycouponfree.net/

I like this site because they don't just find coupons for just food, they find coupons for WINE..even if you don't drink, wine is a great hostess gift for a dinner party. This site also has tons of printable coupons!!

I should write this in a seperate thread, but I have to brag about my first great freebied of 2012...a 4 pack of sugar free Red Bull. Freebies are great and I have been signing up for them WAY longer than I have been couponing. This site is out of control with freebies and your items get shipped FAST! http://www.ilovefreethings.com/mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-40539174198661605092012-01-12T00:05:00.000-08:002012-01-12T00:05:35.034-08:00Buying Coupons on EbayInstead of spending a ton of money buying newspapers that no one will read, I have been buying the majority of my coupons from Ebay. Start by setting up an Ebay account and start looking for either inserts or coupons that have been already cut. You can also search for specific brands or companies that offer coupons. You can also make money by selling the coupons that you don't use back on Ebay, but make sure that they have a long experation date before you get into the game of selling your left over coupons. You want to keep your fellow Ebayers happy AND you want 100% positive feedback on your account. Here's a link if you already have an account of the "buy it now" already clipped coupons http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?rt=nc&LH_BIN=1&_nkw=grocery+coupons&_trksid=p3286.c0.m301mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-72485607498485508492012-01-11T23:41:00.000-08:002012-01-11T23:41:38.346-08:00Happy New Year!!I know, I know, I have not been on top of my blogging, but the holidays got the better of me and I just did not have time to sit down and write.

If you are wondering about how the coupon inserts are for the beginning of this year, I can honestly say that they are fantastic. The Sunday papers are going out of their way to put in better inserts especially last weeks paper. I have learned that the beginning of the month and the end of the month are the best times for quality inserts. If you don't want to buy the entire paper, Ebay is a great place to buy inserts.

Another topic I would like to address is all the couponing sites that keep up to date on all the sales, match-ups and freebies. This site http://www.deals4dummies.com/ has great info for everyone, even those who want to find a job making extra money at home. Hopefully, I will be able to put up all the sites that I belong to, so I won't have to copy and paste so much information at one time.

Have a great day and remember.... COUPONS=MONEY!!!mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-90488133982020455392011-11-17T23:03:00.000-08:002011-11-17T23:03:08.660-08:00How To See My Earlier PostsI have been getting a lot of messages on Facebook asking if the landing page that has my most recent posts is all there is to my blog. The answer is, no. To see my earlier posts, scroll all the way to the bottom right hand side of the page and you will see "blog archives". This has a list of all of my blog entries by month, or you can scroll all the way to the bottom of the page until you come to "older posts" click on it to see the same earlier posts. I have a total of 61 posts and once you know how to find them and figure out the date you are good to go. Remember, Blogger posts my MOST RECENT entry first. If you have any questions, leave a comment or message me on Facebook.

Happy Savings and Couponing!! :)mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-1011040056066839152011-11-17T19:08:00.000-08:002011-11-17T19:08:52.300-08:00Frugalness ;)Frugalness...I'm not really sure if that's a real word, but to my 10 year old son it is. I grew up in very frugal households ( with my mother and bonus father in WV, and my father and bonus mother in MD). We recycled not to be eco-friendly, but to make extra money to go on fantastic vacations. I bring this up because my 10 year son IS very frugal for his generation. He loves yard sales, the Salvation Army and Goodwill. He particularly loves crushing cans and turning them in for cash. When he found out how some metals are going for .80 cents a pound, he asked if the cover to the water meter on our sidewalk was really necessary..lol. So, in his mind, frugalness is a real word and a real necessity as it should be.

I found the rather cute site while I was looking up frugal ways for him to save or make money without committing a crime and I came across this one... http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/
This sites caught my eye not just because of the title, but when I started to read it, there were a lot of useful, smart, practical ideas and recipes on it. I hope you find it as entertaining and educational as I have.mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-23264260771376525182011-11-16T21:48:00.000-08:002011-11-16T21:48:13.369-08:00Spreadsheets and Savings TrackerIf you are someone who watches Extreme Couponing on Wednesday on TLC, you may have noticed that most of the shoppers say they use a spreadsheet to keep track of their coupons, savings, rebates, and freebies. I just found this great site that has a 2011 savings spreadsheet. I know it's near the end of the year, but she does update her site and tools often.

Spreadsheets are one of the best ways to see your savings and keep track of your progress throughout the year. Yes, you can write it all down in your coupon binder, but what a great way to compare your couponing progress from month to month. This download is free so, start printing and keep on organizing...instead of becoming a Queen of Couponing, you can become a Coupon Diva before you know it!
http://thecouponproject.com/2010/12/savings-tracker-2011-for-excel-and-google-docs.htmlmountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-20165518434904656232011-11-15T06:52:00.000-08:002011-11-15T06:52:13.352-08:00VERY IMPORTANT.....KNOW your coupons!!I learned an excellent lesson this morning...I had planned on getting some free stuff and/or rebate items and found out that I no longer had some of the important coupons...they have mysteriously disappeared! This is exactly why I want to stress KNOW your coupons. Know what insert you got them from, either Smart Source, Red Plum, or the internet. If you are going to save money successfully you have to study, make lists, organize and do what ever it takes to know, which, what, where and how you are going to use the coupons.

As I stated in my last post, organization and knowing what coupons you have before you start shopping is absolutely key if you are planning to save BIG on your total grocery bill. I want to stress also, that I am learning this process as I go along just like everyone else, so please let me know what neat ways you organize your coupons and lists. I am finding out that successful saving and couponing is absolutely a full time job if you want to get the most out of the process. These people on the Extreme Couponing show didn't get those stock piles over night and they certainly didn't just walk into their supermarkets and magically begin to saving the hundreds of dollars on their grocery bills.

So with that being said, as soon as I get my new binder and I gain more confidence, I am so recording my first big extreme shopping trip. Right now, my husband and I are couponing on a much more average scale, and yes we are saving money, but I cannot wait to get this whole system down, so I can go out and take the supermarket by storm.

Remember what this post is about...know your coupons, where and what insert they come from and don't let them expire!mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-59993151445800242482011-11-14T22:23:00.000-08:002011-11-14T22:23:30.239-08:00Organization and Other Tid Bits I've Learned...I have yet to embark on a serious extreme couponing venture. To tell you the truth, I really am scared to do it. The key to any couponers success as many of you may have guessed, is organization. Whether you are using the small accordian coupon holders, a binder or even a plain old envelope, being organized with your coupons, having your list, coupon policy, and map of the store are all great ways to keep your shoppin trip running smoothly. I cannot stress enough to check the store you are going to be shopping at, for changes in their coupon policies. Keep them them with you, because as shoppers are starting to coupon more, stores are changing their policies.

Another reason why I haven't done a huge couponing trip is that I have a huge stockpile of coupons and I am running out of room in my medium accordian enveloped. I just ordered a "pro" coupon binder with 100 sleeves on Ebay for $15. There are a lot of different styles of binders and sleeves to choose from on there, so shop around and find what's best for you.

One thing that I have run into with some of the internet store coupons is that sometimes they don't scan. I think I have found a solution...make sure your ink in your printer is fresh and dark. The scanners will not pick up the barcode if just one line is off, too light or smugged.
One of the neatest things I have discovered about using your smart phone scanner is, that some commercials have the barcode on the screen of the TV. If you have a DVR, you can paused the commerical and then scan the coupon code to your smart phone and there you have another way to save and in some cases another way to "stack" for even greater discounts. I haven't tried the scanning on my smart phone because I just got it, so when I do, I will be sure to let everyone know how it goes. the barcode looks like this

You can also find these barcodes on almost any insert coupon and on some merchandise. It can be like a game finding different places that they show up. So, keep your eye out for them and of course, find out for sure where this great piece of technology can be used. :)
The last thing many people don't think of are rainchecks. A raincheck is an assurance to a customer that an item on sale that is sold out or out of stock may be purchased later at the sale price. People seemed to have forgotten this long time practice of retailers. I can remember that my mother always asked for a raincheck when an item was out of stock. I very rarely see anyone asking for them, but the way to big savings is to cover all your bases.
Bing give you points for searching with their toolbar and completing certain tasks, then you redeem them for free stuff like gift cards, clothing, airline miles and more.

Listia is an auction site where you get items for points and also sell items for points. I like to call it the poor people's Ebay.

My Coke Rewards offers points from the codes on the caps of products made by Coca-cola such as Coke, Sprite, Dasani water, Powerade, Mr. Pibb, Vault, Mello Yello, Fanta, Barques Root Beer, Fresca, Minute Maid, Seagrams Ginger Ale and Nestea. Codes are also on the cases and 12 packs of Coke products. You can get great rewards such as gift cards, entries into sweepstakes, instant wins which could include great trips. You can also redeem them for a year's subscriptions to magazine from Redbook to Better Homes and Gardens, donate to a charity or a public school, and the list goes on and on. I just redeemed points for Christmas presents today from Bing and Coke. Here are the links for these FREE sites.
I love it when these nice people do the work and all we have to do is print, clip and SAVE! http://theqtippingmom.com/category/family-dollar/
This site also shows how to "stack" your coupons at FD. Stacking is using a store coupon or internet coupon with a manufacturer coupon, which sometimes results in practically free items. FYI...do not try to photocopy or duplicate and internet coupons.

I know that in previous posts I stated to join as many coupon groups as possible on Facebook not thinking that there are some people who do not have a Facebook account. It's easier for me to post the links instead of trying to keep up with the ever changing deals and sales.
Some of these sites are offering webinars where they will show you in real time how to use your coupons in the most effcient way. In case anyone misses them, there will be other ones out there and I will be posting them as well.mountaingirlhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05972080053877774242noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6736774385156414498.post-28956230427606945642011-11-01T15:16:00.000-07:002011-11-01T15:16:19.569-07:00Load Up Your MVP Cards!Did you know that you can load up you MVP cards with e-coupons? It just goes to show how our slow economy has affected everyone and people are out looking for the best deals they can find.

One question I got on Facebook was "how did I find Amazon auctions?" Well, like I stated in an earlier post, if you have a Facebook account join every couponing page or group on there. If you don't have a Facebook account, then I will post a few so you can get an idea. There are so many coupon sites to mention, but just type in "coupon", "frugal" or "saving money" in your search engine bar and they will pop up. I have several adds here on my blog, also that you can click on to to help you out. I have to say that Super Coupon Lady is my favorite site right now.
